{"id":12359,"date":"2019-03-15T13:21:36","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T19:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsb.lat\/mexico-ranked-7th-in-business-skills-in-latin-america-global-skills-index-2019\/"},"modified":"2019-03-15T13:21:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T19:21:36","slug":"mexico-ranked-7th-in-business-skills-in-latin-america-global-skills-index-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsb.lat\/en\/mexico-ranked-7th-in-business-skills-in-latin-america-global-skills-index-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexico ranked 7th in business skills in Latin America (Global Skills Index 2019)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gsb.lat\/mx\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/habilidades-de-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-225\">There is a constant need in  <\/span><strong>improving business and general skills<\/strong><span>and while each nation has a unique set of economic, social and political circumstances that shape the landscape of its capabilities, according to the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.banxico.org.mx\/publicaciones-y-prensa\/reportes-sobre-las-economias-regionales\/recuadros\/%7BE3665296-DCDE-78FD-54CB-0420E1CD9A36%7D.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Bank of Mexico<\/a><span>,<\/span><strong><span> <\/span>7 out of 10 jobs in Mexico are at risk of being automated.<\/strong><span>  whether by machines, algorithms or artificial intelligence in the not too distant future.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Why it is important to improve business skills in Mexico<\/h2>\n<p>That is why improving business and work skills in general becomes indispensable in order to<span> <\/span><strong>maintaining competitiveness<\/strong><span> <\/span>in a changing economy, and thus lead the way in Latin America, and for this<span> <\/span><strong>companies in Mexico can help their employees improve their skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>In order to have the key information on business and job skills in Latin America, Coursera, the online learning platform, has presented the first edition of its  <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/gsi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Global Skills Index<\/a><span>  (GSI) in which the following stand out<\/span><strong><span> <\/span>trends in skills and performance from 60 countries and 10 industries<\/strong><span>  in business, technology and data science.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Mexico&#8217;s emerging performance reveals some areas of potential, both regionally and globally, as it ranks in the top 10 in the world.<span> <\/span><strong>39th in business skills, 43rd in technology, and 40th in data science worldwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeff Maggioncalda<\/strong>, CEO of Coursera stated that.<span> <\/span><em>&#8220;the global skills landscape is in a major transition. With technology advancing faster than humans, the skills that once drove careers, industries, and entire economies<span> <\/span><strong>will no longer be enough<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Mexico presents areas of opportunity and emerging areas&#8230;although others are lagging behind.<\/h2>\n<p>The Global Skills Index shares key findings at both the global and regional levels, including Mexico, which stands out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Latin America has shown great inequality in business and labor skills<\/strong>, according to economic and cultural diversity. For example, Argentina ranks number 1 worldwide in data science, while Chile ranks number 11 in business skills, which contrasts with the Dominican Republic (number 48 in data science) and Ecuador (number 51 in business skills).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mexico is positioned in the Latin American average,<\/strong><span> <\/span>just between the middle and lower half in the three domains studied, accompanied by Brazil, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mexico&#8217;s strongest area is business skills,<\/strong><span> <\/span>ranked 39th in the world and seventh in the region. The study identified that it is emerging in<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/marketing4ecommerce.mx\/mejores-agencias-de-email-marketing-mexico\/\">marketing<\/a><span> <\/span>(42%),<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/marketing4ecommerce.mx\/panorama-actual-perspectivas-del-fintech-en-mexico\/\">finance<\/a><span> <\/span>(41%) y<span> <\/span><strong>accounting<\/strong><span> <\/span>(31%).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The country ranks 43rd in technology and 40th in data science.<\/strong><span> <\/span>worldwide. Within the technology area, Human Computer Interaction (54%) is the best performing competency, while it finds a development opportunity in database (8%) and security engineering (14%).
